John Dryzek (born 23 June 1953) is Professor of Social Theory and Political Theory in Australian National University's Political Science Program in the Research School of Social Sciences.
He was born in Maids Moreton, England. He is well known for his contributions to democratic theory and environmental politics; making notable contributions on deliberative democracy, green political philosophy and environmental discourses.
He is former Head of the Departments of Political Science at the Universities of Oregon and Melbourne and the Social and Political Theory program at ANU. He has been a Fellow of the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia since 1997, and is a former editor of the Australian Journal of Political Science. In 2008 Dryzek was awarded a prestigious Federation Fellowship from the Australian Research Council.
He has a B.A. (Honours) in Economics and Politics from the University of Lancaster (1974), an M.Sc. in Politics from the University of Strathclyde (1976) and received a Ph.D. in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland, College Park in 1980. [1]
